Our kaupapa
We work to tackle hunger and the emissions that come from food waste in Taitokerau Northland.
Under the steady guidance and guardianship of our parent organisation, 155 Whare Āwhina, our busy team operates from three sites - our main hub in Woods Road, Whangārei, and our satellite warehouses in Moerewa and Kaikohe - and is supported by many wonderful volunteers.
We feel fortunate that we are able to do this mahi and are grateful for the ever-growing number of food suppliers and producers we work with. Because it’s only by working together that we can make a difference. And we’re only getting started!
Food Providers
We are grateful for donations of any size. From large scale commercial producers to supermarkets, local suppliers, producers and locals with extra fruit and vegetables growing on their property, thank you for contributing your surplus food to our mahi.
Partners and funders
155 is our parent organisation, and a Kaupapa Māori provider of wraparound support services for whānau in Taitokerau. They provide free legal advice through their 155 Community Law centres in Whangārei and Kaikohe, can help with whānau support, WINZ, housing, and are here to support anyone who is homeless with shelter and meals at their 155 Open Arms day centre. They also run the 155 Whare Kai social supermarket next door to us at Woods Road.
He Iwi Kotahi Tatou Trust
Our Moerewa site is managed by He Iwi, a trust on a mission to create a positive future for the people of Moerewa and outlying areas. You can follow their mahi on Facebook.
